This Privacy Notice applies to Pay 24 Financial Services Limted’s Microloan digital service accessed via our website (azima.app) and Azima Mobile App and related services.

Please read this Privacy Notice carefully and ensure that you understand it. By using our site, app and related services, you give your informed consent that you have read and accepted all the terms in this Privacy Notice. If you do not accept and agree with this Privacy Notice, you must stop using our website, app and related services.

Data Controller

The Personal Data Protection and Privacy Act describes a data controller as a person who alone, jointly with other persons or in common with other persons or as a statutory duty determines the purposes for and the manner in which personal data is processed or is to be processed.

Pay 24 Financial Services Limited is the data controller of personal data collected and processed through its Azima websites and app.

 

Types of personal data that we collect and process

We collect your personal data if you choose to use our services. Here are the types of personal data we collect:

  • First Name and Last Name
  • Phone Number
  • National Identity Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Your picture
  • Location data
  • E-mail address
  • Next of Kin Names and phone number

In addition to the above, we collect your personal data should you reach us through our contact us information page. For such requests, we collect the following information

  • Name
  • Phone Number
  • E-mail address

We do not collect personal data through automated means.

The purpose for the personal data we collect and process

We collect the personal data you provide to us during the account creation process as stated in our Terms and Conditions. This information is required to identify you as a customer, authenticate your access to your account, to process payment of the selected microloan amounts, to receive payments and to communicate with you on service improvements and updates as you use the service. We are required to collect this personal data from you as part of Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements and to enter into a contract with you as per the Terms of the Service.  We may also use the information you provided to gather additional data related to your loan application. This information may come from a number of sources, including consumer reporting agencies and related sources. We use the Next of Kin contact information where a register may not be found by known means of communication. The Next of Kin contact information is an alternative contact you provide during the registration process.

In addition to the above, the reason we collect personal data when you reach us through the contact us/ customer support channels is to communicate with you, respond and follow-up on any clarification or inquiry and to resolve your request. The Legal basis relied upon to collect and process this personal data is ‘legitimate interest’ as defined in the Data Protection and Privacy Regulation 10(2)(b).

 

 Disclosure

We may share your personal data with our employees, affiliates, vendors, partners and third parties as required to offer you a loan. If we make you a loan and you consent to withdrawals for loan payments, we will use the payment information you give us to process those payments.

In addition, we may share your personal data with Courts of Law, debt collectors or Law Enforcement when you default and are non-responsive to our follow-up communication on your outstanding loan payments. We otherwise do not share personal data with any third party during the normal course of our service offering.

 

Personal data retention

We retain your data for as long as you have an active account. We do not retain data for accounts that are inactive for a period of six months.

 

Protection of Personal Data

We take your privacy seriously. We have in place appropriate technical and administrative controls to protect the personal data that we collect. Our controls are reviewed periodically to ensure that they are effective. In addition, we process personal data in countries that have in place laws on data protection and privacy similar to Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act. It’s the responsibility of our clients to protect the PIN or passcode to their account.

 

Your Rights

This Privacy Notice may be updated at any time to reflect changes in this service and will be published here. Any changes will be immediately posted on our Site, app and related services and you will be deemed to have accepted the terms of the Privacy Policy on your first use of our Site and, or application following the updates.
